FAQ’s

  • Vascular Lesions - Lumecca can reduce vascular lesions, including port wine stains, facial, truncal and leg telangiectasias, rosacea, erythema of rosacea, angiomas and spider angiomas, poikilodenna of Civatte, superficial leg veins and venous malformations. Pigmentation- Lumecca harnesses advanced IPL technology to effectively address benign pigmented epidermal lesions, including dyschromia, hyperpigmentation, and freckles (ephelides), resulting in a clearer, more even skin tone.

  • Lumecca is a state-of-the-art treatment using intense pulsed light (IPL) to target and reduce rosacea, hyperpigmentation, sun spots, spider veins, age spots and more. Powerful, precise light pulses are absorbed by the skin’s pigments or blood vessels in the treatment area. The heat generated by the absorbed light destroys the targeted cells, which are then naturally processed out of the body. Post-treatment, patients will notice a reduction in the appearance of skin imperfections for a smoother skin texture.

  • Lumecca is safe and effective for light skin Fitzpatrick’s 1 to 2. It’s not suitable for darker skin types. This non-invasive procedure is designed with patient comfort in mind and is generally well-tolerated.

  • Lumecca IPL treatment involves a cooling feature to protect the skin and increase patient comfort during the light pulses. While individual tolerance levels may vary, most report only a mild sensation similar to a rubber band snap, with minimal discomfort. Post-treatment, patients may notice slight redness or warming of the skin, but these side effects should subside within a few hours. No downtime or anaesthesia is required.

  • Lumecca effectively reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines by stimulating elastin and collagen production. Age spots also respond well to Lumecca treatments, typically fading after several sessions. For the best results, we may suggest combining Lumecca with Morpheus8 treatment.

  • While Lumecca IPL isn’t marketed as a skin-tightening treatment, the collagen production it encourages can result in a mild tightening effect. Talk to a skincare professional to determine if Lumecca is the best option to address your specific skin concerns.

  • We do not recommend Lumecca IPL for hair removal, as it’s explicitly designed for skin rejuvenation. Ask us about better laser hair removal options at our clinic.

  • Lumecca IPL treatment is highly effective in enhancing skin texture. By targeting uneven pigmentation, refining enlarged pores, and smoothing the skin's surface, it revitalises your complexion, leaving it refreshed and radiant.

  • Changes are often seen immediately following a Lumecca IPL treatment. However, they can also be more gradual, with improvements over the following weeks as your body disposes of the treated pigments or blood vessels. Depending on your skin condition and goals, desired results may be seen after 1-3 sessions.

  • The results of Lumecca treatment can last for years and, in some cases, may be permanent, depending on your skincare routine and maintenance. Periodic follow-up sessions might be recommended to sustain optimal results. Incorporating a consistent skincare regimen, including diligent sun protection, is essential to prevent further skin damage and prolong the benefits of the treatment.

  • While some may see noticeable differences after a single session, many require several Lumecca IPL treatments to achieve optimal results. We usually recommend a series of 1-3 treatments, spaced about 4-6 weeks apart, but this can vary according to your response to the IPL treatment.

  • The cost of Lumecca treatments can vary based on the severity of your skin concerns and the suggested number of sessions needed. Our Lumecca IPL treatments start at £225 (subject to change). Browse our clinic’s treatment price list for further details.

  • Lumecca offers a transformative solution for various skin concerns. Patients often report satisfaction with their results, making it an appealing option for those seeking to enhance their skin’s appearance without undergoing more invasive procedures.
